As Beehive Federal Credit Union celebrates its 63rd anniversary this year, we’d like to take this time to reflect on the values that have remained as pillars for Beehive throughout the years. Since its founding in 1960 as the Ricks College Credit Union, Beehive has stayed true to its mission of serving its members and the community with honesty, integrity, and trust.
One of the key values that Beehive has upheld since its inception is its commitment to its members. Originally founded to serve the students and employees of Ricks College, now BYU Idaho, Beehive has expanded its field of membership over the years to include all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southeastern Idaho and nationwide. Despite this growth, Beehive has never lost sight of its core mission to provide affordable financial services to its members.
As Beehive has grown from just a few founding members, into a credit union with multiple branches and a myriad of services, that it continues to introduce, Beehive has kept members in mind the whole way through. This focus on personal connections has allowed Beehive to establish itself as a trusted partner for its members' financial needs and grow to serve more members.
Another value that has remained consistent throughout Beehive's history is its focus on financial stability. From the early days when transactions were recorded in a shoebox in a filing cabinet, to the present day when Beehive has over $500 million in assets, the credit union has always prioritized sound financial management. This commitment to stability has allowed Beehive to weather economic storms and emerge stronger than ever, as evidenced by its impressive loan loss ratio of only .05% of assets. As economic uncertainty continues, Beehive remains strong and is NCUA-insured to protect members and their assets. The hive remains steady and determined to take care of members for years to come.
Beehive Federal Credit Union has come a long way since its founding in 1960, and will continue to work on expanding and growing to serve more members, but the values that have guided it from the beginning remain just as important today. By continuing to honor the values that got it all started, Beehive has established itself as a pillar of the community and a model credit union.
